Indian Sandstone Patio Installation
On this project we had to initially take down and remove the large laurel bush from the left side of the garden and also any other shrubs where the paving was to be laid. Three fence panels were then supplied and fitted to the right and left side of the garden from the house using concrete posts and concrete gravel board. The ground was then excavated where the paving was to be laid to approximately 140mm below finished level. Type 1 stone was then spread, levelled and compacted in this area. On this dig out we had to move ground from one side to the other to create a level area and then use 2.4 Sleepers to retain the ground allowing the paving area to also be level. The three manholes within the paved areas were changed to recess covers so that we can lay the paving inside of them and so access to drains is still available. Indian sandstone paving in 4 different sizes was then laid on a wet mix of sand and cement with sbr helping bond the slabs to the cement. The Paving was then cut to the shape desired and then jointed with a permeable resin based jointing compound. On top of the paving and in front of both patio doors and back door we formed a step both 600mm wide from the back of the house and the width of the door frames. This project was a great transformation and the customer was over the moon with the outcome. They now had a large patio area which was level and ready for use all year round!
